5 Tips to Supplement Your Finances Until Pay Day

submitted on 7 September 2018
Unfortunately, sometimes unexpected expenses can pop up before payday which makes it very difficult to get by without some extra income. It could be because your car breaks down and needs some expensive repairs, or it might be that your boiler needs replacing before the winter cold weather sets in. Whatever the case, if you can’t get an advance on your wages at work, then in these difficult situations, one of the best things you can do is to find a way to bring in some extra income.

If you are unsure of the best way to make ends meet before payday rolls around, below are five different ideas which you could use to make some extra money.

Sell old items
If you’ve got items which you no longer need that are just cluttering up your home, then clearing through the mess can be a great way to make a few extra pounds until payday rolls around. While each item is unlikely to make more than half of its original price, if you look through old draws, check under the bed, and clear your wardrobe out of clothing which you haven’t worn in a while, then you might be able to get together enough items to make a decent profit.

Turn your home into a daycare
If you’re going to be at home during your spare time, then you might as well find a way to turn a profit while you’re there! With more and more parents having to take on full-time work, there is always a demand for babysitters, so you should be able to find part-time work during times when you’re not working. Alternatively, if you are more of an animal person than a child person, then you could do pet sitting instead!

Get a loan
If you don’t have the spare time to earn some extra cash to help you make it through to payday, then the next best option may be to get a CashLady payday loan. This way you can make it through until the end of the month, and then repay the debt once you have your paycheck in your hand.

Rent out a spare room
If you have extra space in your home which isn’t being utilised, then you could turn your spare room into a guest room for people to stay in. There are a few ways to do this, such as by getting a permanent or short-term tenant who pays rent. Alternatively, if you’d like less of a commitment, you could use a room in your home as a type of holiday let, such as on Airbnb.

Do freelance work
If you have a specific skill set which you don’t get to utilise fully within your job, then you could always exercise it by doing freelance work on the side. You can do pretty much any job on a freelance basis, from teaching and tutoring to designing websites and writing. Most freelancers work from home in a long distance set up as well, which is perfect if you have a family.
