The How-Tos of Creating an Irresistible Show Home

submitted on 5 May 2022 by blocc.co.uk
There's something about going into a warm and inviting abode – we immediately feel welcome and comfortable in our surroundings. However, it's all in the details – the tastefully-decorated vase filled with fresh blooms in the foyer, the kitchen with all the trimmings, the beautifully-made bed in the bedroom, and even the subtle glow produced by the lamp in the corner. These aspects come together to create a fabulous show home that makes us want to live there and never leave! So if you're going to create something genuinely inviting and welcoming that attracts buyers in droves, here are the how-tos of creating an irresistible show home.

1. Symmetry is your best friend
Any show home interior designer worth their salt would tell you right away that symmetry is your best friend. It goes back to the Golden Ratio, and it makes complete sense. What is symmetrical is pleasing to the eye. Everyone loves symmetry, so you have to incorporate it into your lovely show home. The question is, how? One simple way to do it would be to place matching table lamps on either end of a sofa and make sure the cushions you use are symmetrical – two on each side of a couch or divan. For accessories, showcase them in a group of three (for instance, a set of three figurines on a table) to complete the symmetrical appeal.

2. The walls could use some elegance, too
Whilst there's nothing wrong with focusing your attention on the decorative elements and accessories, you shouldn't forget about the walls. The best way to go would be to keep your walls neutral and use a middle-grey colour or a beige or taupe colour to make it muted and subtle. You can add a bit of texture to the room with some accessories, feature walls in a bright and bold colour, or framed pictures or images. All of these decorative elements can add some personality and chic to a room, and what's great about them is you can easily swap them with another dιcor if need be.

3. Amp up the bed
It's got to be our favourite because there is nothing like snuggling under the covers after a long day! Here's the thing – a bed that's impeccably made will immediately draw the viewers' eye, making the bed the star attraction – and it's a must for any show home. No matter how 'decorated' every room is and how much time you've spent decorating the space, the master bedroom (or any bedroom, for that matter!) will be the room most buyers will eye keenly. They have to imagine themselves sleeping there, after all.

So what could you realistically do to amp up the bed? For one, you could make sure that it has everything – not just the bed sheets and covers, but the duvet, too. Additionally, use a throw, so it looks more comfy and cosy, but make sure everything is complementary. Cushions are a big hit, but make sure they are in complementary colours. Lastly, make sure the bedding and linen are even and smooth for when the homebuyers arrive.
