 A mansion house has existed in the grounds since 1561, and the present Hall dates back to 1898 when it was bought by Sir Lionel Phillips for ú77,000.
Sir Lionel was obviously a man of great vision and no little taste as he immediately set about turning the Hall into one of the finest mansion houses of the era.
